Are you looking to see how far your salary will go in another city? There is plenty to consider before you just up and move.

Maintaining a good standard of living traditionally encompasses a broad spectrum of different factors that can be broken down into different three topics. These topics are the housing markets, job markets and day to day expenses. A good balance between these factors dictates an affordable existence.

Buying a home in a great housing market won't do you a lot of good if you can't find a job to pay the mortgage. Getting top pay for your trade would be negated if housing prices are too steep.

Oregon during the technology boom in the late 90s and early 2000s had a great job market with plenty of affordable housing markets. Few people who moved to the beaver state during that time period regret it. Home owners are enjoying the equity they have built coupled with a great paying job. Not only that, day to day expenses in Oregon are comparable to other states around the nation.

Consider growth potential and or stability above all: If I where considering picking up my family and starting a new life in a different state I would want to be assured by evidence of a stable economy or a huge potential for growth. Take these factors into consideration when deciding to take a job in another town.
